In a remarkable comeback after a four-year hiatus, American MMA sensation Sage Northcutt made a stunning return to the octagon this May.
Even though he is well-known for his striking skills, Northcutt left the audience in awe by securing a first-round victory via a Heel Hook finish against Pakistani BJJ brown belt Ahmed “Wolverine” Mujtaba – at ONE Fight Night 10.
This victory not only earned Northcutt a US$50,000…
But has now also been announced as the “Best MMA Submission Of 2023”, by ONE Championship!

Having entered the ONE Championship arena in May 2019, Northcutt – a multiple-time Karate World Champion – faced high expectations.
However, his debut was ruined by a vicious knockout defeat against Cosmo Alexandre. This setback led to Northcutt’s prolonged absence from the ring, during which he focused on recovery and honing his skills.
It will certainly be interesting to see how Northcutt will fare in the octagon in 2024.
