Orlando Sanchez has achieved his BJJ black belt status under Jose Olimpio in 2012, after just four years of training.

Sanchez made a memorable debut at the ADCC in 2013, shortly after earning his black belt, competing in the over 99kg division.
His first won against Kitner Mendoga, though he then narrowly lost to Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu on penalties.

His return in 2015 saw Sanchez at his peak, as he dominated the over 99kg category to win gold; defeating elite competitors like Dean Lister and Vinny Magalhaes.
Despite a silver medal finish in 2017 and a mixed record in subsequent appearances, Sanchez’s ADCC career concluded with an impressive 9-3 record and two medals.

His untimely passing shortly after ADCC 2022 left a void in the grappling world, but his induction into the ADCC Hall of Fame ensures his legacy will forever be remembered.
