Let’s say you’re playing Open Guard in no-gi and you’re on your back. Your training partner steps deep inside between your legs, towards your thigh – which means that you can establish a De La Riva Guard. And so you do… But now what?
You want to start attacking the legs, for example, by bringing your outside leg in, so as to enter Ashi. But how are you supposed to do that, when your training partner is well-balanced and is monitoring your leg(s)?
