Gordon Ryan: “No One Outside Of New Wave Will Come Close To Meregali In The Coming Years”

Nicholas Meregali has been tearing it up in no-gi tournaments ever since he started training no-gi (which wasn’t even that long ago)…
And now, Gordon Ryan is saying that no one outside of New Wave – the team in which both him and Meregali train at – will be able to top the Brazilian’s skillset for years to come.

Ryan praised Meregali’s successes after his most recent win, the one against Felipe Pena at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 5:

The best active gi competitor in the world and the man who just took out the 2 best active no gi competitors outside of his team.
After beating, and not just beating, submitting (because no one cares if you win on points) Kaynan and Felipe in dominant fashion, Nicholas Meregali is doing what everyone said he couldn’t.

There’s no one outside of New Wave that will come close to him in the coming years.
In fact, he will only pull further and further away from the competition.

Ryan goes on to share his gratitude and appreciation for Meregali:

Nicholas is someone I have always been friendly with, and now someone I am very lucky to call a friend.
An absolutely excellent addition to the team, and for as confident as he is, he never fogets to thank the ones who helped him get where he is.

He is an exceptional human being and equally exceptional athlete.
