Riley Hawk – Tony Hawk’s Son – Shares How BJJ Impacted His Skateboarding Journey

Riley Hawk, a professional skateboarder following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Tony Hawk, is also a BJJ blue belt!
And, well, he has found many similarities between Jiu-Jitsu and skateboarding – with the former being a lot of help for the latter.

However, Hawk’s thoughts about Jiu-Jitsu were somewhat different before he started practicing it:

He just always said it was just fun and that was like a concept I never really thought about.
I just figured it was just intense, which it is, but at the same time it is kinda what you make it and it can be fun too.

BJJ also brought his passion for skateboarding back in a way:

Starting Jiu-Jitsu kinda made skating fun again in a weird way, it just made it feel like I didn’t need to put so much pressure on myself with the way I handled skating.
