Nicholas Meregali Reveals How He Knew He’d Finish Felipe Pena From The Back

Nicholas Meregali appears to have predicted that he’d finish Felipe Pena from the back at their UFC Fight Pass Invitational 5 match – as he mentioned in one of his earlier social media posts.
But how did he know that the match would end in that way?

He shared in a recent interview with Ag Fight, as shared by Gracie Magazine:

By studying and being good at Jiu-Jitsu, by knowing what I’m talking about, when I analyze my opponent, I can more or less understand where I’m going to get to and what the easiest way to finish is.
In Pena’s case, I knew I would put him down, he would play guard, it would be difficult to pass his guard, as I also said.

It’s all about being analytical for Meregali:

I knew it would happen like this, the fight happened the way I said yesterday, exactly the way I said. And it’s not because I have precognitive powers or that I’m a wizard
I only analyze Jiu-Jitsu without feeling. He does this, I do this, so 2 + 2 = 4. And that’s the result.

When I went to the back, it was already delivered.
He didn’t even wait for me to lock in the Rear Naked Choke before he tapped out.
