Josh Barnett vs. Owen Livesey Announced For A Catch Wrestling Match

Josh Barnett and Owen Livesey will face each other in a catch wrestling superfight!
The match will take place at The Snake Pit World Championships 2023, on October 28th. The promotion shared the news on their social media:

Both Barnett and Livesey are well-known for their grappling skills, especially when it comes to takedowns and throws. However, there is a significant age difference between the two athletes, as Livesey is only 32 – and Barnett is 45 years old.
This doesn’t have to mean anything when it comes to the match outcome, though, especially when experience is taken into account.

Namely, Barnett had his professional MMA debut (after having trained and competed in wrestling and judo for years) back in 1997 – when Livesey was just 5 years old.
He went on to become a UFC heavyweight champion, as well as to fight in MMA until 2016 – when he retired with a 35-8 pro record.

Livesey, on the other hand, was a Judoka first. He won multiple British national titles, as well as a gold medal from the Commonwealth Games back in 2014.
He transitioned to submission grappling, even earning an invite to ADCC 2022, and regularly competes at Polaris – as well as in pro MMA now too, with a 2-0 record to his name.
