Machado’s journey in the ADCC began in 1999, a time when the competition was in its beginning stages.

Competing in the 77kg division, he submitted all four of his opponents for the gold medal in his debut.
Machado continued his reign in the 2000 championship, again reaching the finals and securing a silver medal after a close match with Renzo Gracie.

Despite a setback in the 77kg division at ADCC 2001, Machado went into the absolute division – adding another silver medal to his collection.
His final appearance in ADCC was marked by a superfight against Dean Lister in 2005.

Machado’s achievements are particularly noteworthy considering he began his ADCC journey at 31 – and overcame the physical challenge of missing several digits on his left hand.

And, beyond his successes at the competition podium, Machado has also made a significant impact as a coach, mentoring figures like Eddie Bravo, and even training various celebrities.
