Gordon Ryan Answers If Nicholas Meregali Is Better Than Him

Gordon Ryan Answers If Nicholas Meregali Is Better Than Him

Gordon Ryan and Nicholas Meregali have been training together for quite some time, with Meregali quickly climbing the no-gi ranks by beating just about everyone on the scene.

However, one question that a big part of the BJJ community has is – whether Meregali is better than Ryan?
Ryan recently addressed the question, but first complimented Meregali on his successes:

Last 3 matches- subs Matheus, subs Pena, subs Laynan. 3 ADCC champions back to back.
Still only at around 25% of his no gi potential with one of the highest sub rates in the sport.

He then addressed the question:

According to Lucas Lepri, he dominates Gordon Ryan, too.
This one may or may not be true.

Lucas asked for almost 100k to face me 6 years ago when he was facing everyone else for free, so we don’t really know how sane he is.

Ryan continues:

In all seriousness, Nicholas Meregali is your next star.
He is uncontestably the best active gi competitor and uncontestably the best active no gi as well.

This is the guy, and I’m happy he can carry the flag while I can’t.

However, Meregali also addressed the question in the comments as well:

Thanks for all the help since the day one my friend.
And, you smoke me in No Gi rounds.

I know I was the last people’s hope but that’s the truth hahahahaha.
