Caio Terra Undergoes Much-Needed Hip Surgery: “It Was Getting Progressively Worse”

Multiple-time BJJ world champion Caio Terra had suffered several injuries in a car accident back in 2021, when someone’s car ran a stop sign and slammed into his car.

And, even though most of the injuries – as well as the concussion – went away, one problem persisted: hip pain.
Which is why Terra recently underwent a hip surgery.

He shared his thoughts on social media:

Throughout my career, like most athletes, I dealt with injuries. The process was always to get injured, do Physical Therapy, and try to work through the pain.

In 2021 I got into a horrible car accident where someone ran a stop sign and slammed into my car.

Initially, I had a bad concussion, an injured shoulder, a broken toe, and my hip hurt.
The concussion went away, and the toe healed, but the hip persisted. I couldn’t work through the pain, and or wasn’t helping.

Eventually, I was told if I didn’t fix it soon, I might not be able to do jiu-jitsu again, as it was getting progressively worse.

Eventually, he had to go for surgery:

Yesterday I finally had surgery on my hip.
We never know how valuable our health is until we no longer have it.

Thanks to everyone who has supported me, and excited to start the recovery process.
