Long overdue? Perhaps…
But UFC and ONE Championship legend Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson has just taken yet another step in his martial arts journey – as he has been promoted to BJJ black belt!
DJ shared the news via social media:
Amazing day of training!! Thank you to professor Bibiano Fernandes & professor Yan McCane for presenting me with my black belt promotion today!
It was extremely special also having my two coaches from the start of my MMA career there as well.
I’m honored and looking to continuing my journey as a martial artist while also competing as a black belt!

Johnson demonstrated his Jiu-Jitsu skills on multiple occasions – both in the MMA octagon and on the BJJ mats.
For example, he recently competed against a 6 feet 3 inches and 248 pounds heavy opponent, in the quarterfinals of the Pan American Championship…
And took the win via a decisive choke!
His opponent had nothing but kind words about Mighty Mouse:
He’s a beast, man.
Keeping that dude still is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. He’s rough.

Sloth Jiu-Jitsu: you can be slow and unathletic and still kick butt in Jiu-Jitsu.
