Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida and Leandro Lo weren’t just fierce competitors – but they were also very good friends, who’ve shared many fond moments together.
It’s now been more than a year after the tragic death of Lo, and Buchecha regularly reminds the BJJ community of just how great Lo was.
Not just on the mats. But, more importantly, as a friend.
Here’s what Almeida had to say in a recent social media post – about the lessons he learned from Leandro:
“Living in the present! I Keep this with me, I don’t like saving anything in this life. All I have is now.” – Leandro Lo
This was just one of the many life lessons I learned from Leandro who was like a brother to me.I learned a lot on the mat with him in terms of techniques and strategies but I learned a lot more off the mats with him, valuable life lessons that will stay with me forever!
He continued by emphasizing the light Lo brought to the people around him:
Leandro was and will always be one of the greatest in the history of the sport for everything he did.
For those who had the opportunity of living together and sharing moments with him, he will always be remembered as the enlightened, dedicated, and humble human being he was off the mats too!
