Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida did it again! At ONE: Winter Warriors grand prix championship that took place today, December 3, Buchecha fought Kang Ji Won… And tapped him out with a forceful Rear Naked Choke!
Ji Won attempted to place some pressure on Almeida with his strikes in the beginning. However, within the first minute of the first round, Almeida perfectly timed a Double Leg takedown and brought Ji Won on the canvas. Once there, Ji Won established a form of Half Guard and managed to get to his side, despite Buchecha’s attempts to control his right arm and flatten him out.
With his opponent’s back against the ring, Buchecha delivered some heavy punches. At one point, Ji Won got back up to his feet; but only for a brief moment, as Almeida brought him back down.
From there, Buchecha took Ji Won’s back, inserting both hooks in and working for the Rear Naked Choke – eventually setting it up across his opponent’s jaw and neck. Despite his best efforts to defend, Ji Won was forced to tap out and Almeida emerged victorious in the very first round.

This was Buchecha’s second fight under the ONE Championship promotion. He won his debut fight via choke from North South.
