Anthony Hernandez earned a 5th victory in the row to his name at UFC 298 – with a superb submission against Roman Kopylov!
From the outset, Kopylov made his intentions clear with precise body kicks and a jab that landed square on Hernandez’s chin.
However, Hernandez, undeterred, sought to close the distance and bring the fight to the ground; a strategy that Kopylov initially managed to fend away.
Kopylov’s striking became more aggressive in the second round.
Hernandez, however, then seized the moment and executed a flawless Double Leg takedown – transitioning smoothly to Kopylov’s back and beginning to work for the Rear Naked Choke.
After a brief struggle, Hernandez adjusted his grip, securing the Rear Naked Choke more firmly and forcing Kopylov to tap out at 3:23 of the second round.

Reflecting on his victory, Hernandez seemed to be more focused than ever:
I just had to get out of my own way. I mess up a lot.
I’m done messing up, I want to make my run for the title.
I’ve been conditioning my body. I’m ready to show the world.
