UFC’s Alex Pereira Talks Grappling: “You Have To Get Tired”

Alex Pereira is intensifying his preparations to defend the UFC light heavyweight belt against former division champion Jamahal Hill, on April 13th…

And one of the main components of his preparation?
Yup – it’s submission grappling!

“Poatan” recently shared a video on his official YouTube channel, showcasing his grappling training – an aspect of his skillset that many fans and MMA experts believe has yet to be fully tested.

Here’s what Pereira had to say about training under the tutelage of Glover Teixeira:

You have to get tired, if you get tired it’s because you trained.
You can’t play here, the people here are badass.

Training here with Glover, there’s no way not to learn.
With all the experience he has, the experience in the middle of the fight, UFC champion, I’m learning every day.

I’ve seen a lot of people criticizing, not wanting to train.
I go there and train with women, with older, heavier guys, beginners…

That’s how we evolve.

With nine wins and two losses in his professional MMA career, Pereira is slowly but surely gearing up for his first title defense in the under-93kg category…
And it’s bound to be an exciting match.
