“The Korean Zombie” Promoted To BJJ Black Belt After UFC Vegas 29 Win

The UFC Vegas 29 event last night was a stacked one, with the Featherweight main event being between Chan Sung Jung (“The Korean Zombie”) and Dan Ige. The fight went the distance, with both men showing immense heart and dedication – ending with Jung being awarded both the victory… And a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu!

The Zombie moved to an MMA record of 17-6 with an unanimous decision win. And as if that wasn’t already enough, his coaches decided to promote him right there – in the octagon – just seconds after his victory! Draping the belt across his shoulders and across the South Korean flag made the moment, for everyone watching, immensely special.
Speaking after the fight finished, The Korean Zombie said:

More than winning this fight, the black belt means so much to me. I’m super excited to get it.

Here’s Jung’s post-fight interview:

The Zombie’s BJJ black belt is more than well-deserved, considering the fact that he had a total of 8 submission victories throughout his MMA career. But, perhaps most notably, he is credited with being the first fighter who managed to pull off a Twister submission in the UFC!
That took place a while ago, all the way back in 2011. If you want to learn more on how that happened and how you can do the Twister as well… Then hop on over to this article and read up!
