Garry Tonon achieved a phenomenal victory over Martin Nguyen, in the first round of their bout at ONE 165 – held on January 28th, 2024…
With a Rear Naked Choke!
The featherweight matchup was anticipated to be a close contest.
However, Tonon put on the pace immediately and walked away with an impressive victory – as well as a $50,000 bonus.
He took Nguyen’s back, securing a Body Triangle.
After a brief struggle, Tonon successfully locked in a Rear Naked Choke and forced Nguyen to tap out.

This is a win that’s as exciting for Tonon as it is for the BJJ community…
Because it’s a step forward to Tonon fighting at this year’s ADCC.
Why? Because, as he revealed in a recent interview, Tonon would be fighting at the ADCC only if he wins the ONE Championship title:
Once I’m “The Man”, and I say the same thing about competing in ADCC, I would be super excited to compete in ADCC again.
But if a title opportunity is on the line and I haven’t gotten that control yet, I haven’t got the belt around my waist…
