Mica Galvao Earns His Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt at Age 17

The 17 year-old BJJ phenom Mica Galvao has just earned his black belt. He’s long been establishing himself as one of the rapidly rising stars of Jiu-Jitsu, and he took to sharing the good news about his promotion on Instagram:

THE START OF THE JOURNEY
Arriving where I always dreamed and where everything begins. I thank everyone who was and is with me on this journey, without you none of this would be possible.
Today I received my JIU-JITSU BLACK BELT. At 17 YEARS OF AGE I have a RESPONSIBILITY to do only MY BEST to represent this path and continue GIVING GOOD EXAMPLES in any way I can for the NEW GENERATION. God bless you all.

Mica Galvao had earned his BJJ brown belt only in October last year – not even 12 months ago! However, he has shown plenty of success at competitions, winning matches at them one after another.
On top of that, this is the second black belt he has earned this year. Back in March, he earned his Luta Livre black belt as well.

We’ll have an opportunity to see him testing his black belt already at the beginning of August, when he competes at BJJ Bet: Who’s Next.
