In 2010, Bernardo was weight and absolute champion at the Pan, but this year, he does not intend to compete in the open category, and wants to focus on winning his weight class.

He talked to Brazil’s Tatame magazine:

“Expectations are always the best. I am very well trained, prepared and happy to be competing again. Thank God I managed to recover well. I do a lot of physical work on my leg and knee. As for the mental part, I am very happy and motivated to be competing, and I think this is the most important part. When you are there all happy, motivated, willing to fight, this is the best psychological state. I’ll go with the same mental state. I’ll leave it all on the mat.”

. “I think I’ll be 100%, because, after so many years of competing, I would not enter a competition if I wasn’t 100% prepared. I still do not know if I’ll do the absolute because I’m just coming back. Doing seven or eight fights can be a lot at this time. But for my category, I’m 1000% (laughs), “he added.
