Tony Ferguson Says He Was Offered Grappling Match Against Charles Oliveira

Former UFC lightweight contender Tony Ferguson might not have a return date to the UFC octagon just yet…
But it seems he could be gearing up for some action on the grappling mat in the meantime!

In a recent Instagram story, “El Cucuy” revealed that he was offered an opportunity for a submission grappling match – against none other than former lightweight world champion Charles Oliveira!

The match would take place at an upcoming UFC Fight Pass Invitational event:

Was offered a grappling match against good ol’e Charlie Olives AKA Chuck for UFC Fight Pass Invitational.

While specifics regarding the event remain undisclosed, UFC Fight Pass Invitational 7 is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 15.
So, that might mean that Ferguson may have been approached for participation in this event.

Should Ferguson accept the invitation, it would mean a rematch of sorts between the two fighters.
Their previous encounter inside the octagon at UFC 256 took place in December 2020…

And, on that occasion, Oliveira emerged victorious with a unanimous decision – handing Ferguson his second consecutive loss in the UFC lightweight division.
