Sheldon Johnson Jr. – a recent guest on The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast – is now a prime suspect in a grim murder investigation.
The 48-year-old, who has been both lauded as an anti-violence advocate and known as a former convict, faces serious allegations including murder, manslaughter, and illegal weapon possession.
The shocking news broke just weeks after Johnson Jr.’s appearance on the popular podcast.
The investigation was sparked by a police response to reports of gunshots, leading to the grim discovery of Colin Small’s dismembered body in a Bronx apartment.
Small’s decapitated head, showing signs of a bullet wound, and various body parts were found stored in a freezer on the property.
Surveillance footage from the apartment building showed an individual, believed to be Johnson Jr., wearing different disguises as he moved in and out of the building.
Upon his arrest and while being led from the police station to the Bronx Criminal Court, Johnson Jr. maintained his innocence to the media.
Johnson Jr.’s criminal background includes a 1997 robbery conviction, for which he received a 50-year sentence at a young age.
After serving 25 years, he was released from prison.
His transformation and past were the focus of his discussion with Joe Rogan in an episode titled “Sentenced to 50 Years Sheldon Johnson Decided to Turn His Life Around”, where he appeared alongside his lawyer.
His lawyer described him as a “miracle”, arguing that Johnson Jr. had been unjustly sentenced for the robbery.
