22 years later, Both veterans watched the Aldo-McGregor fight and each had advice to give to the younger fighters.
Royce Gracie stated in an interview with FightHub:
“McGregor said what he was going to do, and he did it. He did it. Jose Aldo’s been a champion for 10 years.”
He’ll be back, he’ll be back.”
When Royce was asked to give advice for Aldo, for words of advice for Aldo:
“Go back to training camp, and re-do it again without the pressure of being champion. When you’re the champion you have a lot of pressure man, to defend for ten years.
“Now he’s got something to chase.”
Shamrock’s advice to McGregor:
“The only thing that I can see, that I see a lot of guys fall into and it’s a trap. I went through it and a lot of guys go through it but it’s becoming too much like God.
“You need to check yourself, look yourself in the mirror and realise that it’s just a fight. You’re just fighting another guy and you’re winning and you’re great at this.
“But when we talk about the world and life itself, you have to check yourself.”
