Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen will step into the boxing ring on June 15 in Sao Paulo, Brazil!
However, it will be for an exhibition match, not a professional bout.
The exhibition match will take place at a catchweight of 98kg (216 pounds), and both Silva and Sonnen will fight with 14-ounce gloves.
Geyza Caryny, president of the National Boxing Council Brazil, informed MMA Fighting of this decision on Monday.
The Silva vs. Sonnen match will headline Spaten Fight Night – and, while a winner will be declared in case of a knockout or if the fight goes the distance, the result will not be recorded on either fighter’s official record.
Silva holds a professional boxing record of 3-2, whereas Sonnen has never competed in professional boxing before.
The two have a combined total of 94 MMA bouts, with Silva having 20 knockout victories and Sonnen recording seven knockouts.
Silva and Sonnen have quite a storied rivalry, having fought twice in the UFC, with Silva defending his middleweight title both times via stoppage.
Notably, their first encounter is set to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame this June.
