UFC CEO Dana White has always been known for being vocal with his opinions – including the ones about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
And, in a recent podcast episode with Sebastian Maniscalco, he urged parents to sign their kids up for the Gentle Art.
White explained that, even though sports such as football and basketball are fun and teach things such as teamwork, Jiu-Jitsu gives them something they can rely on as they are:
Put your kids into Jiu-Jitsu.
Jiu-Jitsu will change your kids’ lives and give them a level of confidence.
They’ll have that Jiu-Jitsu in their back pocket till the day they die.
White emphasized that Jiu-Jitsu is all about technique, rather than just brute strength:
A little girl, I could bring in a 16-year-old girl, that’ll wrap you up into f*cking pretzels.
Additionally, he says that Jiu-Jitsu training can be superb for children who are more reckless and stubborn, helping them “calm down”.
White has previously praised BJJ’s utility for women training it:
The biggest selling point for Jiu-Jitsu for women is that no matter how big or how small, a woman can put a guy to sleep in three and a half seconds.
He thought back to the time when he started training BJJ as well:
I remember thinking, holy sh*t… I can’t believe that I’m 28 years old and this is the first time I’m experiencing this.
Such an eye-opening, mind-blowing experience.
The most humbling thing you can do as a man.You realize, holy sh*t, all that sh*t talking I’ve been doing about me being a badass – you realize you’re not.
