Rousimar Palhares “Toquinho” will no longer participate in the World Jiu-Jitsu Expo 2013, scheduled for next weekend in California. In a joint decision with his staff, the Brazilian chose to abandon the superfight against Dean Lister to treat an old shoulder injury, that he acquired during the preparation for his fight with Mike Pierce.

“Unfortunately I had to cancel the event. I hurt my shoulder before fighting Mike Pierce, but declined to say anything to anyone to avoid people thinking I was making excuses in case of defeat. I thought that I would face Dean Lister, but I was wrong. I’m having a lot of pain in the shoulder, and I need to recover before returning, “said the athlete of Team Nogueira.

Despite not having a date for his return, Toquinho ensures that a grappling fight against Dean Lister is in his and Renzo Gracie’s, WJJE organizor, plans. He told Tatame:

“I admire Dean Lister, he is a great fighter and a great person. I was very happy for the good things he said about me, after the fight with Mike Pierce. I must make this fight with him, and the event is already planning to reschedule for another date, “concluded Toquinho.
