Khabib Nurmagomedov, the UFC Hall of Famer and former lightweight champion, is reportedly facing legal trouble with the Russian Federal Tax Service.
Reports indicate that several accounts linked to Nurmagomedov’s businesses have been blocked by Russian authorities.
His MMA promotion company, Eagle Fighting Championship, is allegedly awaiting the same fate in the near future.
It’s reported that Nurmagomedov may have used funds owed to the Russian state to invest in hotels and start-ups in Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
Specifically, the amount owed by Nurmagomedov is reported to be 306 million rubles – equivalent to $3.3 million.
The investigation into Nurmagomedov was allegedly sparked by his transfer of ownership in several businesses, with relatives and associates reportedly assuming control in some cases.
The Russian tax authorities then found irregularities in documents related to the closure of these businesses – prompting further scrutiny of the former MMA star’s financial activities.
Since retiring from MMA with an undefeated record of 29-0, Nurmagomedov has ventured into various business endeavors, including dietary supplements, restaurants, hotels, and his own MMA promotion.
He remains one of the wealthiest figures in the world of MMA, boasting a reported net worth of $40 million.
