The controversial incident in the match between Grzegorz Salomon and Jakub Lipa has left us all at a loss for words.
During the fight, Salomon was visibly seen tapping out multiple times, a clear indication he was seeking the referee’s intervention to halt the match.
Despite his attempts, however, the match continued — leaving Lipa with no alternative but to maintain his hold until the fight was officially stopped.
And sure enough, it was stopped. Albeit much later than it should have been…
As Salomon was choked out unconscious.
And, even though the referee might have been positioned unfavorably to spot Salomon’s taps, one could argue that maintaining optimal positioning is part of the referee’s job.
At that point, even the gesture of checking Salomon’s arm appeared to be a redundant measure.
