UFC Controversy: Fighter Gets DQ’d After Biting Opponent’s Bicep

Sure, the UFC has had some rather weird and controversial fights in its history…
But how many times have you seen a disqualification due to a fighter biting his opponent’s bicep?

Well, that’s exactly what happened to Andre Lima’s opponent during his UFC debut, at UFC Vegas 89’s prelims.

It was a competitive first round between Lima and his opponent, Igor Severino.
However, the unexpected turn came in the second round – after Severino attempted a takedown.

During a clinch, Lima signaled to referee Chris Tognoni; prompting him to pause the fight.
It was then revealed that Severino had bitten Lima firmly on his left bicep, leaving discernible teeth marks.

Severino’s blatant breach of the rules led to his disqualification.

Dana White, the CEO of UFC, personally spoke to Lima after the fight and decided to give him a special bonus: the first-ever “I got f*cking bit bonus” in UFC history!
