Guilherme Mendes On UFC Fighter Luke Rockhold: “He’s A Tough BJJ Brown Belt.”

Luke

Luke Rockhold faces Vitor Belfort on the 18th of May in the UFC in Santa Catarina, Brazil. The fighter spent a few days working on his Jiu-Jitsu with brothers Rafael and Guilherme Mendes at the Art of Jiu-Jitsu Academy in California.

Gui Mendes, who appears in this video (below) rolling with UFC fighter , assessed the ground level of the Jiu-Jitsubrown belt in a interview with Tatame (in Portuguese)

“He is a brown belt and is very tough, even for someone who has a focus on MMA. He fights well in all positions and is strong. We do not think that he has that game on the ground that only uses MMA position. He has trained in kimono and has very good moves. “said Gui

Belfort, the American’s rival on Saturday, is a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, formed by Carlson Gracie, and Mendes who is a 3x world champion believes that the ground battle would be hard for both.

“He will fight with Vitor Belfort, who is also very good and has been trained by our friend Gilbert Durinho. It will be very interesting. ”

Luke Rockhold had a BOLD statement for Vitor Belfort:

“If it goes to the ground, I think it’s my world. I know he’s a longtime black belt, but black belts don’t mean shit to me.”
