After her victories MMA debut last December at Rizin in Japan, 10x world BJJ champion Gabi Garcia already has her next scheduled fight. It will again be with Rizin FF, and she will face Sambo champion Anna Malyukova from Russia, on April 17, in a heavy weight bout (93kg). It will be the co-main event of the second card held by the company, which will be led by Wanderlei Silva in an unexpected grappling match with Kazushi Sakuraba.
Malyukova has a solid Sambo background and local Russian media described as following Fedor’s footsteps. Her weight is listed to be around 100kgs.
Both fighters have only one MMA fight on their record. Gabi debuted at Rizin, where she knocked out Lei’d Tapa in the first round after suffering a knockdown early in the fight and recovered. Malyukova also has only one MMA fight which she won.
– She has a one fight. I looked at her fight and I will impose my game now. We will study and be more more conscious so as not take an overhand again (laughs). I’m now studying her game, I have little time to do it, but I will impose my game and try to get away with this victory – Gabi Garcia, told Combate.com .
The Brazilian also celebrated being able to fight on the same card as her friend Wanderlei Silva. –
Wanderlei invited me to be part of the TUF when he was coach. He called me to be one of the instructors, it was very cool, I was the first woman to teach there. They are fighting on the same card it will be really cool because he is a friend of mine. Wanderlei is a legend in Japan, people love him. Fighting in the co-main event of this card will be pretty cool – she concluded.
