Daniel Cormier, known for his illustrious career in MMA and his commentary in the UFC, has also recently had several NCAA wrestling commentary gigs…
Emphasis on had – as he’s decided to quit amidst frustration.
While many have appreciated Cormier’s energy and enthusiasm during the broadcasts, some individuals within the amateur wrestling scene have criticized him for not providing enough in-depth analysis.
So, following a post that appeared to be the final straw, Cormier announced his departure from the NCAA tournament commentary team.
He expressed frustration with the status quo in wrestling commentary, emphasizing the reluctance to adapt and evolve with the times:
Guys im out. This will be my last time doing the NcAA tournament. Continue to do things the same way and stay wrestling that hasn’t changed since the 40’s. I told the general public to watch a guy told me he’d rather tear his eyes out than watch. So enjoy. I’ll finish tonight… https://t.co/QP3tAMcdzN

He was proud of what he had accomplished during his tenure, however:
Love me or hate me , we sure did get some people talking wrestling and ultimately that’s what I am here to do! The NCAA wrestling tournament is just the best! Off to UFC 300!! @NCAAWrestling @espn #growrestling pic.twitter.com/mQQcNAWsYz
