Alexander Volkov Scores Rare Ezekiel Choke Submission Win At UFC 293

Alexander Volkov just submitted Tai Tuivasa at UFC 293, and he did so in spectacular fashion…
By utilizing the Ezekiel Choke – a submission which has previously been applied with success only two times in UFC history, by Remco Pardoel and Aleksei Oleinik!

The tap came at the 4:37 mark in the second round:

This has been Volkov’s third win in a row, all of which have been via submission.
After the win, the Russian national said:

This guy is really tough, make some noise for him.

I don’t really practice this choke but I want to say hello to [my coach] who taught me this when I was very, very young.

After the two exchanged lots of punches and kicks in the two rounds, the fight took to the floor – with Volkov transitioning to Mount soon after.
He rained down punches and put an arm behind Tuivasa’s head, slipping his other forearm underneath the chin and locking in the choke…

With Tuivasa being forced to tap.
