Yesterday we had the joy to spend an entire hour watching a live instagram video of Ralek Gracie where he talked all about his latest project – a bjj drama series. A drama series which he hopes to turn into a profit which will then be used to pay out Metamoris debts.
This is not to be confused with the latest attempt to pay out the debts that featured Ralek be manhandled by Gordon Ryan in front of a select audience that paid 100$ to be in attendance at the event.
In this discussion Ralek Gracie offered up that he’s expecting his latest project to make up for the failures of his past.
The pilot for The Foundation was filmed and put on the Metamoris youtube page in July 2016
The pilot of the semi scripted series depicts the main protagonist as he gets bullied by both his father and actual bullies until a chance encounter with Chris Haueter offers him an opportunity to enter the bjj world.
Interestingly Ralek and Dean Wellen revealed that the cause for the delay of the series resulted from a fire at Ralek’s home which resulted in his computer being – well extinguished.
When we say semi scripted we mean that it, according to Ralek – did not have a typical script. It was more of an experimental case of film making where they had loosely the idea where they wanted to take the story and no script per say.
The pilot in best case plays like a love letter to bjj and in worst case it’s an amateur film project of a man child riddled with shoddy camera work and cringy acting.
At the core of the project was the belief that there’s a distinct difference between family and brotherhood. Something that might mirror Ralek’s own story because thanks to his unsavory business practice he has had his half brothers Rener and Ryron issue a statement distancing themselves from him. He revelead his relationship with his father is now perhaps the best it’s ever been.

In the spacey instagram live video Ralek explains that by going to the Metamoris site and purchasing the VOD – video on demand you can buy each of the episodes for 1.99$.
Since putting the pilot on youtube it has amassed 40.000 views but it’s unclear how many, if any, would be willing to pay for this. Notably the two best bjj documentaries around Roll and BJJ vs The World have each amassed over half a million views since their release.
The video description has since been altered and the Metamoris page has been retooled to feature only the foundation. Same goes for the instagram page.
The 5 episode first season is said to feature authentic material such as the medical intervention on the lead actor/main protagonist Dean Wellen and more. The two really seemed excited about it in an hour long rant.
