Rafael Dos Anjos On Why He Left Kings MMA

Rafael Dos Anjos has left Kings MMA after 4 years. He recently explained his rationale for leaving as well as his experience of losing the lightweight belt.

When talking about why he left Kings MMA Rafael revealed he is eager to leave his comfort zone and aims to open up his own gym!

He told Combate.com:

“I have not opened my gym, but this is a matter of time. I really got out of Kings, gave no further right. I think I’m among friends now, with good people on my side, and will not miss training. I am a well-connected man, I have good friends. I’m pretty sure in everything i do. We need to keep the ball rolling, nothing has changed. “

The change comes following the loss of his belt to Eddie Alvarez in July.

Rafael Dos Anjos is now preparing to face off against Tony Ferguson!

RDA has been preparing for the match in Mexico in good company!

“It is one of the nicest camps I’ve ever had. We’re in very good tune. I, the Ferret, the Philipe Dela Monica, Edu, the Edwin Najmi, Edu Pachu is here with me too, my friend from Brazil, Beneil Dariush, who will fight on the same card, Arthur … so we did training in Mammoth mountain for 20 days and now we come to Mexico City missing 10 days and is being very good. It’s been a really cool experience, the weight is lowered with ease, thanks to God, I am among friends and everything is going well, everything perfect, thank God.”

When asked about leaving the man credited for the evolution of MMA in many fighters Dos Anjos replied as to what led him to leave the team:

“I think it was a work of the whole team. I trained at Kings three times a week, but otherwise I was going elsewhere to train as well. So I think that evolution was Rafael Cordeiro credit my credit, credit Philipe Dela Monica, Nick Curson, who is my trainer, Jacob Harman, who is the wrestling coach … so it’s credit to everyone team, everyone who participated in my career, Eduardo Pamplona, which has helped me a lot in muay thai too, so it’s a combination of all the friends who have helped me train. Evolution has credit for these people and for me too, I’m going to the gym and training firm. People who are next to me know how strong I train and how dedicated I am. I think the evolution will continue to. Anyway, I am very grateful to Rafael Cordeiro for everything he did for me, for all the teachings, but now it’s ball forward, new phase of life.”

And as for how he’s dealing with losing his belt RDA said:

“It was very difficult, especially the way it was. But I have to swallow this hard, sour and bitter pill. Now it’s ball forward and I think God has a plan for everything and has always been ahead of my life helping me at all. This time is no different. I’ve been in this position before and I think I know the way back to the top. I’m young, I’m healthy, I have no serious injury and anything that hinders me. I have available enough to do it again and get back on top.”
