Nicholas Meregali: “How I Win Counts More Than Anything Else For Me”

Nicholas Meregali isn’t known “just” for being one of the top-ranking Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes of all time.
He is also well-known for having one of the most competitive mindsets in the game.

For example, Meregali recently beat Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 4 – but he was unhappy with his performance, because he didn’t win by submission.

This wasn’t a victory, this arm raised means nothing for me, this is not what I believe Jiu-Jitsu is, this is just the beginning, this is another step, this is what I needed at this time.

Life is great and as soon as I imagine I’ll be dominating my opponents in the way I truly believe I’m capable off.

He emphasized his plans to improve in a recent Instagram post as well, particularly in regards to his no-gi game:

There are so many things to add to my No Gi game, and while it makes me angry, it also makes me even more excited to work toward achieving the No Gi level I want.

Winning is easy, but how I win counts more than anything else for me.
