Jose Aldo has it quite a few snags on the way to avenge Conor McGregor loss. In spite of multiple promises by the UFC officials a rematch is nowhere in sight.

McGregor will be likely defending the Lightweight belt once he makes it out of his baby induced hiatus around May of 2017.

However Aldo doesn’t care in which division he gets a chance for revenge, the long term featherweight champion has announced his intentions to fight for the interim lightweight title early in 2017.

His coach Andre Pederinas said:

I think it’s time for the UFC to say something and back up everything we’re saying,” Pederneiras told Brazilian channel Combate, as reported by Combate.com. “It sounds like we’re just saying stuff, but throughout all of this I’ve received messages, e-mails with proposals, everything.

“On our end, Aldo is in no way a liar. I think it’s time for people to know the truth, and that’s the truth. You can ask  Sean Shelby if there’s a single lie in everything I’m saying.”

Aldo recently revealed his first plan for an interim 155 lbs fight had been declined by Khabib Nurgomedov earlier this week. Khabib since responded:

I want a real battle, and only Tony can give it to me. At this stage of my career, even if I win Daniel Cormier, fans will say that I have to fight with Tony, and I agree with them.
I have spent my career in the UFC asking for the strongest opponents, currently in this division we must decide who is stronger, me or Tony? Without exception, all the fans and experts want to see this fight and I want to give it to them.
And you, Aldo, I advise you not to lose the respect of your fans, including me, do not lose your head, do not fall for the mind games of the UFC, and be yourself.
