Garry Tonon Eager To Find Next Opponent For SUG3, Taunts AJ Agazarm

Garry Tonon Eager To Find Next Opponent For SUG3, Taunts AJ Agazarm

Notorious for their style of self promotion, Danaher Death Squad resident Garry Tonon is determined to talk his way into a octagon match with an A level grappler.

Sadly for Garry, that someone won’t be Dean Lister.

Which is a damn shame considering how great it would be to juxtapose the two leglock styles.

Tonon is not deadset on just finding himself an opponent for EBI rules, octagon set submission underground. He’s also quite interested in MMA. On his call out list? Aj Agazarm and Kron Gracie.

Gracie famously tapped Tonon with a rear naked choke but regardless many new generation grapplers spotted Tonon for the first time following his great armbar escapes against none other than Kron.

Tonon elaborated to Flograppling:

“Because to his core, as a person, he is truly horrible. One of the few people on Earth I’m confident the world would be better without.”

It’s fairly hard to take this seriously given that the two have trained together on several occasions. However this happened several days ago:

And from there the things developed:

And of course AJ Agazarm penned an elaborate response to Tonon’s comments to flograppling;

 Mr Teague….
In today’s hustle-bustle world of Internet static, often times facts, and the messages they are tasked to convey, can get lost in the shuffle of feelings, notions, and recklessly biased interpretation. Allow this communique’ to act as a blow against this trend.
On the subject of Gordon Ryan….
Gordon is an extraordinary young grappler. It is a great, rewarding, experience training with him. With that said, he has chosen to publicize an event that occurred during training which I would have preferred to keep private, and among the people who participated, and witnessed, it. Gordon has chosen instead to supply a version of said event which is inflammatory and self-serving; two traits I abhor and never allow myself to display.
The unvarnished truth vis-a’-vis his eye injury is this:
During a training session, while trapped in my trademark “triangle”, Gordon bravely refused to tap. The attendant pressure on his neck caused his eye to pop out of the socket, fly 6 feet through the air, then roll across the mat like a bloody grape.
This is a rare, but not unknown, phenomenon.
I quickly went into action, and it was because of my compassionate intervention with some of the top Doctors in NY, upon whom I prevailed to assist Gordon, that his eye was saved, replaced, and restored to its original function.
But let NO mistake be made; had it not been for me, and my attempts to help him, Gordon would now, and forever, look like the guy on the side of an OAKLAND RAIDERS football helmet.
As far as cornering athletes Garry and/or Gordon compete against, I do, and may again.
Obversely, if Gordon needed ME to corner HIM, I would be honored, and give him my support, guidance, and advice, without condition or reservation.
Garry Tonon has requested an MMA match with me.
I like the idea; but I do have a few suggestions to make that match something worthy of our mutual time and effort.
As a BJJ World Champion, it is my contention that an MMA match between Garry and I would carry far greater resonance and import if it could be framed as a Champion-vs-Champion match.
This, of course, requires Garry to win a World Championship.
I will be back in NY soon, and look forward to dropping by Renzo’s, and continuing to share my advice, and expertise, with both Garry (as he progresses towards his goal of becoming a fellow BJJ World Champion), and Gordon (whose potential is limitless), as well as all my other friends and associates there.
I offer all of the team there greetings of fellowship and peace, as fellow members of the Jiu-Jitsu brotherhood.
