Colby Covington Calls Brazilians ‘Filthy Animals’ After Defeating Demian Maia

It has been a rough night in Sao Paolo, Brazil for all jiu-jitsu fans. After a lengthy struggle Demian Maia has lost another decision fight.

OFFICIAL DECISION: Colby Covington defeats Demian Maia by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-26, 29-27)

To boot American wrestler Colby Covington made some shocking comments:

“Brazil, you’re a dump!” Covington said. “All you filthy animals suck. I’ve got one thing to say: Tyron Woodley, I’m coming for you. If you don’t answer the front door, I’m going to knock it in and I’m going to take what’s mine, that welterweight belt!”

Covington also believes he beat Maia way worse than Woodley saying:

“Tyron Woodley, look what I did to Demian Maia in three rounds. I beat him way worse than Woodley could do in five rounds,” Covington said. “The only person I want to see in a contract in front of my face is Tyron Woodley. He´s been running from me, I have beat him in the gym before, I will finish him inside the Octagon.”

“I finished him inside three rounds,” Covington said on Fox Sports 1. “He was supposed to go five rounds that day. He said, ‘I quit. I’m not going no more.’ He didn’t want to go. He didn’t like the pace. Look at how he fights. He backs up, he’s scared to fight. He fights conservative. I’ll finish him. He will break inside that Octagon. He will quit in there. I promise you that.”

UFC executive David Shaw addressed the incident, saying that they’re clearly not happy with how it all played out.

“In terms of the fan reaction of Covington fighting, there’s no way for us to support any fans throwing items at staff or any fighters,” UFC executive David Shaw said on the post-fight press conference. “But having said that, we are taking the situation of Covington very seriously.”

“It’s already being reviewed by our code of conduct committee, and it’s something we are not very happy about.”
