On February 17, 2022, Zagreb, Croatia hosted a Brazilian jiu-jitsu competition that featured top athletes vying for medals and spots in the 2024 ADCC World Championships.

Most favorites won their divisions , but there were also big surprises that day.

In the under 88kg division, ZR team’s Taylor Pearman from UK who is know mostly as a Gi player had all heel hook victories winning the division in dominating fashion. Scotland’s Mark Macqueen won 99kg division with big victories over French bohemoth Francis Pana and Germany’s Frederic Vosgroene.

In the 66kg division Russia’s Gairbeg Ibragimov won all seven of his matches displaying superior wrestling and defeating Yigit Hany in the final by decision.

Poland, a strong presence in European grappling, had 39 competitors and earned four medals, including one qualification to the World Championships. The Polish athletes got off to a strong start, with most winning their opening matches via submission.
