Nicolini Prepping For ADCC With Leo Vieira: Eager To Fight Alongside My Master, He’s An Inspiration

Michelle Nicolini is a huge inspiration. The 8x World Champion and an ADCC champions is pulling out all the stops once again eager to grapple once again.

“I decided to prepare for ADCC with my team and master Léo Vieira at Checkmat HQ in Los Angeles (USA). I trained wrestling, I did the physical conditioning and lots of Jiu-Jitsu. I believe in the work we have done and will be strong in this edition of ADCC. As I was in the United States for two months, I could not stop training MMA too and Juan (Brazilian Samurai) helped me with that. It changes a little from No-Gi to MMA, but the focus is always to finish the opponent, “said Nicolini to tatame in portuguese

Nicolini has been focusing on MMA since her retirement from the IBJJF scene

Since she retired she was back in the cage – with 2 submission victories in round one – first over Mona Samir and the second against Irina Mazepa.

Back in 2015 Nicolini was defeated in the finals in a match that was quite close and ended at 4:4 against Mackenzie Dern. On the road to the finals she defeated Rikako Yuasa and Tammi Musameci however this year the roster looks quite fresh and nobody is to be underestimated:

“I certainly follow the female world of Jiu-Jitsu. Even the 17-year-old girl who won the American trials, Elisabeth, I gave her a very dedicated private lesson. This category, up to 60kg women, I think is one of the most disputed. You can not talk favorites. They changed the rules, you know, so anything can happen, “concluded Nicolini.

Vieira is himself returning to the scene in a special superfight against Chael Sonnen.
