World Pro 2016: Black Belt Open Weight Video Highlights

 

One of the most important Jiu-Jitsu events in the world, the Abu Dhabi World Pro Jiu-Jitsu 2016 saw the first black belts matches this Thursday (21st) where the finals of the male and female absolute have been set. Full of surprises and upsets, the open weight final will have Felipe Preguica Pena face José Junior for men and Tayane Porfirio face Bia Mesquita for women.

2015 Abu Dhabi World Pro Champion Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida withdrew from the competition at the last minute from both the absolute and weight divisions.

One of the main surprises of the Abu Dhabi World Pro 2016, José Junior arrived in the final after beating Thabet Al Taher, Jackson Sousa, Luiz Panza and Ricardo Evangelista. In the semifinal, the athlete of UAEJJF Team – Training Hall would have face the winner of Erberth Santos vs Victor Honorio, but both were disqualified for lack of action in their match.

In the other bracket, Preguica defeated Marcio Andre, Claudio Calasans, Dany Gerard and Alexander Trans. Regardless of who is champion, the Abu Dhabi World Pro will have an unprecedented absolute champion in 2016.

Among the women, the brown belt Tayane Porfirio shined again. On her to the final of the female belt absolute brown / black belt, the Alliance athlete defeated Caroline da Silva, at the favorite Mackenzie Dern and Jessica dos Santos.

Bia Mesquita, in turn, triumphed over Ana Talita Alencar, Ana Carolina Srour, Luiza Monteiro and Bianca Basilio.

The final of the absolute will take place on Saturday (23) – as well as the final of weight – the last day of competitions.
