When Dana White took over the UFC in 2001, one of the new UFC President’s first tasks was to scour the MMA backwaters searching for undiscovered talent to sign to the UFC. White hasn’t scouted talent in person for over a decade – but with childhood friend Nick “The Tooth” and the irrepressible Matt Serra in tow – Dana hits the road once again in search of potential UFC superstars. This is the pilot episode “Dana White: Looking for a Fight.”
In this episode they went to see MMA teen sensation Sage Northcutt fighting. The former UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra had one of his students also fighting at that event.
Matt was sitting with Dana White, Evander Holyfield and Nick the Tooth right behind the ring announcer, who was drinking beer and talking trash because he was friends with the opponent of Matt’s fighter.
Matt didn’t appreciate that and found the guy unprofessional. A verbal exchange between both men happened, and the ring announcer wasn’t backing down to the ex-UFC welterweight champion.
Then Matt gets up from his seat and gets closer, but the ring announcer is not impressed.
There is only one Matt Serra, that’s for sure.
