4 x Roberto Magalhaes aka “Roleta”, is one of the legends of BJJ and is the inventor of the inverted guard.
This position has also been later called the Tornado guard by Roberto Cyborg Abreu.
‘Roleta’ used this guard to beat Wallid Ismael from Carlson Gracie at the very first World championships in 1996 in Rio de Janeiro.
