Mark Hunt faced a returning Brock Lesnar on 9 July 2016 at UFC 200, but lost by unanimous decision. However, on July 15 it was revealed that Lesnar had tested positive on a banned substance in a pre-fight drug test. The test result was conducted on June 28, 11 days prior to the fight, and was flagged by USADA as a potential anti-doping violation. On July 19, the UFC announced that Lesnar tested positive for the same banned substance on a second, in-competition sample.
Lesnar tested positive for clomiphene, an anti-oestrogen agent which can aid testosterone production, on both 18 June and fight night itself, 9 July.
Hunt reacted furiously:
“Before the fight I was assuming he was cheating,” Hunt said. “Look at him. There’s no way that guy makes 265 pounds. That guy is a gimp, he’s sticking needles in his ass like the rest of these cheaters. And the thing about that is, he’s sitting here saying ‘this is a fair place.’ Well, it’s not fair. These guys are cheating and they should be in court for it. (They should) lose all of their money if they’re cheating, because if I die in there, who’s going to look after my family.
“That’s corrupt sh*t, man. These motherf*ckers should be penalized hard. Dirty, scummy, cheating scum. That’s how that monkey won his world title. He didn’t do it by doing it clean. He did it by cheating, just like the rest of these cheaters.”
UFC commentaror Joe Rogan had the following advice for Hunt and gives some inside information on how much Lesnar was tested.
