Jiu-Jitsu black belt and 2009 ADCC bronze medalist, Ryan Hall is part of the cast of The Ultimate Fighter: Team McGregor vs. Team Faber which debuted on Wednesday, September 9th.
Hall is a world class grappler having medaled in the ADCC, IBJJF World Championships, Pan, Grapplers Quest and more. He is the founder of the 50/50 jiu-jitsu academy. He is known for his triangle, heel hook and 50/50 guard.
For the past few years, Hall has been training out of the Tristar gym in Montreal, Canada, home of former UFC welterweight champion Georges St Pierre. He has amassed a 4-1 MMA record.
Ryan Hall trained with Gunnar Nelson when he visited Iceland earlier this year. He also held a seminar in Iceland at Mjölnir. In this interview with him we talk about Sport BJJ vs. Self defence BJJ, the future of the deep half guard and more.
Ryan has won his first 2 fights in TUF by submission and displayed some great Jiu-Jitsu in the process.
He wants to implement his half guard and deep half guard game in MMA. The deep half guard is rarely used and deemed risky in MMA as you are exposed to strikes but Hall is a master in the position.
