Polaris in Talks with Demian Maia for Grappling Superfight

The organisers of Europe’s number one Jiu-Jitsu invitational Polaris professional Jiu-Jitsu, were in LA for the Jiu-Jitsu Global Federation’s founders awards. Polaris was nominated for best professional Jiu-Jitsu event.

BJJEE found out from sources close to Polaris that they are in talks with Demian Maia to organise a grappling superfight at an upcoming Polaris event.

A number of possible opponents were discussed including Braulio Estima. The two elite grapplers have faced each other twice in competition and Maia won in the Gi, and Braulio won in No Gi. Both men are ADCC world champions.

Maia currently fights as a welterweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. As of May 19, 2016, he is #4 in the official UFC welterweight rankings.

Maia faced off against Matt Brown on May 14, 2016 at UFC 198. He won the fight via submission in the third round. He is on a fight fight winning streak in the UFC.
