The black belt talked to Portal do Vale Tudo about the excitement of signing with the UFC, but said that his ultimate goal is still to come:

“I want to thank my team and my thick-skinned wife who gives me the greatest support in the world. But this is only one step. My goal is to get to the belt. I got to the UFC, I worked hard for it, but the main goal is the title. I know I  just got here, I’m down to earth, but with humility and work, I will be champion. I’ll be there to represent Brazil and above all Jiu-Jitsu “.

Gilbert joins an even more select group of BJJ world champions in the UFC like Roger Gracie, Ronaldo Jacare, Fabricio Werdum, Murilo Bustamante, Antonio Braga Neto and other beasts.

Having just signed the contract with the UFC, Gilbert did not forget his roots. He participated in the ADCC Florida on Saturday (17), and won another belt after defeating AJ Agazarm in a superfight at the event by 11 x 0.

Durinho used social networks to share his joy:

“Glory to God, all this happened in less than a month! Copa Podio, then contract with the UFC and another belt in the ADCC Florida! Happy, “she wrote.
