Brendan Schaub on Training Partner Ronda Rousey: ‘I’ve Seen Her Destroy Men’

When UFC commentator Joe Rogan made the controversial statement that Ronda Rousey would probably beat 50% of the UFC male bantamweight division, it set tongues wagging.

In a new interview with Rick J Lee, UFC flyweight (125 lb, 57 kg) Ian McCall said that he would throw Ronda Rousey on her head.

“They say all these comparisons to her fighting men. Even like Joe [Rogan]. I need to have a conversation with Joe about it because she’s not beating up a man. I’m sorry, it’s not going to happen.”

“A good man will not lose to Ronda Rousey. I could put a judo gi on, [she’s] an Olympian. You’re not throwing me. It’s not going to happen. I will throw you on your head. Pretty simple. And you weigh more than me. I can’t compartmentalize it.

Ronda Rousey, Brendan Schaub

UFC heavyweight and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu brown belt, Brendan Schaub has trained many times with Ronda Rousey at the Gracy Academy and disagrees with McCall.

During his The Fighter and the Kid podcast episode, Schaub said that he has trained with and has seen Ronda destroy men:

“I like Ian. He’d be surprised,” Schaub began.

“If he put on a gi, Ronda would rag-doll him around the gym. He would be surprised. I’ve seen her rag-doll bigger, very skilled fighters. MMA, professional fighters. I’ve seen her destroy men. Fighters who were way bigger than him. She could definitely beat some of the 135ers in the UFC.”
