Update: UFC Legend Mark Coleman Alert & Breathing On His Own After House Fire Tragedy

UFC legend Mark Coleman is showing signs of improvement, after the heroic act of saving his parents from a house fire.

The former UFC heavyweight champion, who was initially intubated and sedated due to smoke inhalation, is now alert, responsive, and breathing independently.

Coleman’s family shared an emotional video on Instagram, showing him embracing his daughters and conversing with them from his hospital bed in Toledo:

I’m the happiest man in the world. I swear to God I’m so lucky.
I can’t believe my parents are alive.

I had to make a decision. I got out of my room and went to the door and it was already horrible and I couldn’t breathe.
I almost had to go outside and I went back in and got them.

I can’t believe it. I got them and I couldn’t find Hammer.

Doctors have treated his lungs, addressing the primary concern following his airlift from the fire scene.
Hammer, the family dog who initially alerted Coleman about the housefire, unfortunately did not survive.
