UFC 297 witnessed a spectacular start with Jimmy Flick‘s impressive victory in the preliminary card, where he secured a submission win against Malcolm Gordon.
Flick, a standout from Forza Combat, has now achieved his 17th career win – with a remarkable 15 of these victories coming through submissions!
And he is proud of that result, to say the least.
He shared his thoughts on his own grappling skillset, during a post-fight interview:
They just don’t have the Jiu-Jitsu that I have.
A lot of people tell you in Jiu-Jitsu: “Position before submission.” Meaning you keep a position before you go for a submission, because if you lose it, you’re going to be in a bad position.
Well, my coach gets onto me… But I’m submission all day.
Flick continued to explain why his grappling is so superior:
People ask me: “How do you describe your style?”
Well, if Khabib and Demian Maia had a baby, they would have Jimmy Flick. You got Khabib wrestling with Demian Maia Jiu-Jitsu.
I use the Khabib wrestling to get it to the ground, I dominate them, and I use my Demian Maia jiu-jitsu to sub them up.

Sloth Jiu-Jitsu: you can be slow and unathletic and still kick butt in Jiu-Jitsu.
